The official website for the television adaptation of the anime based on Kei Azumi's novels, known for their focus on "social reform in an alternate world," has unveiled a new video teaser along with a visual image, providing a glimpse into the upcoming second season of the series. This teaser introduces the newcomers to the cast.

The second season is scheduled to premiere in January 2024. J.C. Staff will take the reins of animation in this new installment, replacing C2C. Shinji Ishihira (known for his work in series like Fairy Tail, Log Horizon, and Super Lovers) returns as the director, while Kenta Ihara (responsible for series like Tanya the Evil, Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious, and The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter) once again leads the script composition. Character designer Yukie Suzuki (who contributed to Fight League: Gear Gadget Generators) continues to create character designs. Additionally, Yasuharu Takanashi (known for his work on Fairy Tail, Log Horizon, and Super Lovers) returns to compose the music.

The first season of this anime premiered in July 2021, marking a milestone as the inaugural production of NTV's newly established Anime Department.

NTV describes the anime's plot as follows:

Makoto Misumi, an ordinary high school student leading a normal life, is suddenly summoned to an alternate world to assume the role of a "hero." However, the goddess of that world belittles him for being different and strips him of his "hero" title before casting him into the desert at the edge of the world. While wandering through this arid place, Makoto encounters dragons, spiders, orcs, dwarves, and a wide variety of non-human tribes. Thanks to his origin from another world, Makoto possesses magical powers and combat skills that defy imagination. But how will he face the challenges presented by these different races and survive in his new environment? In this fantasy, Makoto strives to transform that other world into a better place, despite being abandoned by both humans and gods.

NTV secured worldwide distribution for the anime, except in Asia, through Crunchyroll. The company also inked key agreements to distribute the anime in Asia via the broadcasting channels Ani-One Asia by MediaLink Entertainment Limited and Aniplus-Asia. The series will debut on these channels (in addition to Crunchyroll) shortly after its airing in Japan, reaching South Korea (Aniplus-Asia) and Southeast Asia (Ani-One Asia). Among the three distributors, the anime will be available in more than 200 countries and territories.

Azumi began the story as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2012. AlphaPolis published the eighteenth printed volume with illustrations by Mitsuaki Matsumoto in August 2022, and the series has sold 1.4 million copies to date. Kotora Kino started the manga adaptation in 2016, and AlphaPolis published the twelfth volume on July 21.
