On Wednesday, Kadokawa unveiled new cast members and revealed a key visual for 'Shin no Nakama janai to Yūsha no Party o Oidasareta node, Henkyō de Slow Life Suru Koto ni Shimashita 2nd,' the second season of the anime based on the light novels by Zappon and Yasumo, 'Banished From The Heroes’ Party' (Shin no Nakama janai to Yūsha no Party o Oidasareta node, Henkyō de Slow Life Suru Koto ni Shimashita).

The second season is scheduled to premiere in January. Makoto Hoshino, who was the director of the first season, now takes on the role of chief director, while Satoshi Takafuji, the graphic scriptwriter and director of the ninth episode of the first season, will be in charge of direction. Studio Flad is exclusively credited for animation production this time (the first season was a collaboration between Studio Flad and Wolfsbane). Yukiko Ashino, along with the returning staff member Tsukasa Ohira, shares credit for art setting, and Ashino also serves as the art director. Norimasa Teramoto replaces Kenji Takehara as the director of photography, while Takatoshi Hamano replaces Nobuyuki Abe as the sound director. Magic Capsule takes over from On-Lead for sound production. The rest of the main team is returning.

The first season, which aired in Japan in the fall of 2021, was streamed by Funimation and Crunchyroll. Makoto Hoshino directed the first season at Wolfsbane and Studio Flad, with Megumi Shimizu in charge of the series scripts, and Ruriko Watanabe designing the characters.

Yen Press publishes the novels in English and provides the following synopsis:

Red, formerly part of the Hero's group destined to save the world from the evil forces of Taraxon, the Raging Demon Lord, was expelled by one of his comrades. Now, he aspires to lead a quiet life on the frontier and open a pharmacy. However, keeping his previous life a secret might not be as simple as he imagines, especially when Rit, a beautiful adventurer from his past, shows up and asks to move in with him.

Zappon began publishing the story on the 'Shōsetsuka ni Nārō' website in October 2017, and the work is ongoing. Kadokawa started publishing the print version with illustrations by Yasumo in June 2018. Masahiro Ikeno adapted the novels into a manga in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in May 2018. The franchise has over 2.2 million copies in circulation, including digital versions.
