During Sunday's "Ichigo Production ☆ Fan Appreciation Festival 2023," a sneak peek of the upcoming second season of the anime Oshi no Ko was unveiled, announcing its highly anticipated premiere next year.

At Anime Expo 2023, HIDIVE confirmed that it will be the platform responsible for streaming the second season of Oshi no Ko.

The television adaptation of the manga Oshi no Ko, created by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, made its debut in Japan on April 12 with an initial 90-minute episode. HIDIVE simulcast the anime alongside its Japanese release and also offers an English-dubbed version. The company noted that the series has become the "number one launch in the history of its streaming service."

The direction of the first season was entrusted to Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection Project) and Chao Nekotomi (Love is Like a Cocktail) at the Doga Kobo studio. The scripts were handled by Jin Tanaka (The Misfit of Demon King Academy), and Kanna Hirayama (Rent-A-Girlfriend) took charge of character design.

Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish) launched the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump in April 2020. Shueisha's MANGA Plus service will be responsible for releasing the digital version of the manga in English.

Yen Press acquired the manga license and provides the following synopsis:

Gorou, a gynecologist and avid idol fan, is shocked when his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. What Gorou doesn't imagine is that he is about to intertwine his destiny with her in a way that defies all logic. In this scandalous manga by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish), lies become the most powerful weapon of an idol.

This manga received first place in the "Next Manga Awards" in 2021 and also won the Best General Manga award at the 46th annual Kodansha Manga Awards last year. Additionally, it was nominated for the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize and the 14th and 15th Manga Taisho Awards. Ranking seventh on the list of the "20 Best Manga for Male Readers" in the 2022 edition of the "Kono Manga ga Sugoi by Takarajimasha!" guide, the manga has surpassed 3 million copies in circulation.
