Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai" will premiere in spring 2024

The official website of the anime adaptation of Megumi Morino's manga "A Condition Called Love" (Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai) has unveiled the main cast, production team, and the scheduled release date for April 2024.

Under the direction of Tomoe Makino (Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, Kotaro Lives Alone) at East Fish Studio, the anime is supervised and scripted by Hitomi Amamiya (Merc Storia: The Apathetic Boy and the Girl in a Bottle, Chillin’ in My 30s after Getting Fired from the Demon King’s Army), while Akiko Satō (Trigun Stampede) takes charge of character design.

Additional talents include:

Kodansha USA Publishing commenced the digital English publication of the manga in 2020 and released the first printed volume on January 24, with the fifth volume scheduled for November 21. According to Kodansha USA Publishing, the manga's storyline follows Hotaru, a 16-year-old first-year high school student whose perspective on love undergoes a drastic change after offering her umbrella to Hananoi-kun during a tumultuous public breakup at school.

Megumi Morino launched the manga in Kodansha's Monthly Dessert magazine in December 2017, and the 14th volume is set for release on November 13. With over 3.8 million copies in circulation, the manga received the Best Shōjo Manga award at the 45th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2021.
