The anime's plot follows the tale of the 17 'Origins,' whose powers have endured throughout time. A man with a coffin and a girl with beast-like eyes arrive in a village, triggering a quest to undo the curse afflicting the girl since she was cursed by a witch. The narrative intensifies when the beast captures the witch in this captivating dark fantasy.

The manga, crafted by Satake, debuted in Kodansha's Young magazine in November 2016 and moved to Monthly Young in 2021. Kodansha published the tenth compiled volume in August 2022. The English version, published by Kodansha USA Publishing, released the tenth volume in February.
