The official website of the animated television adaptation of the light novel series "My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered" (Sokushi Cheat ga Saikyōsugite, Isekai no Yatsura ga marude Aite ni Naranain Desu ga.) by Tsuyoshi Fujitaka revealed three new cast members, an image, and details about the opening theme last Thursday. It was also announced that the anime will debut on January 4.
Hilcrhyme will perform the opening theme titled "Killer Bars."
The anime will be streamed by HIDIVE, which will feature the North American premiere during this year's Anime NYC on November 17.
Masakazu Hishida (Fairy Ranmaru, Ensemble Stars!, KING OF PRISM de PrettyRhythm) directs the anime at the animation studio Okuru to Noboru. Jou Aoba (a pseudonym for Hishida) is responsible for writing and supervising the scripts, and Sayuri Sakimoto (Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki OAV 5/2020) handles character design. The music composers include Hanae Nakamura, Tatsuhiko Saiki, Kanade Sakuma, and Daisuke Kadowaki.

J-Novel Club offers the light novel series in English, and the story is described as follows:
Yogiri Takatou wakes up amidst chaos and carnage during a school trip, only to discover that his entire class has been transported to another world. Despite having slept through the entire experience, he realizes he has lost the "Gift," powers granted by a mysterious Sage who apparently transported them. Alongside a classmate, he is abandoned and used as bait to distract a nearby dragon.
Although he isn't too bothered by the idea of dying, he decides to protect his only companion. After all, a humble level 1000 monster stands no chance against his secret power to invoke Instant Death with a single thought, as long as he can stay awake long enough to use it...
Fujitaka first published the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2016, before Earth Star Entertainment began publishing it with illustrations by Chisato Naruse.
Since 2018, Hanamaru Nanto has been serializing a manga adaptation titled "My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered —AΩ—" on the Comic Earth Star service. J-Novel Club also offers the English version of the manga.
