Kadokawa presented an exciting character teaser for 'Doctor Elise,' the anime series based on the web novels about medical reincarnation fantasy and the vertically scrolling manhwa by the talented author Yuin and the illustrator Mini Surgeon Elise (known as 'Gekai Elise' or 'Oegwauisa Elise' in Korean), last Wednesday. This preview focuses on the charismatic protagonist, Elise. In addition, Kadokawa revealed that Elise, voiced by Yui Ishikawa, will perform the captivating opening song of the anime titled 'believer,' while the talented singer Maju Arai will bring the closing theme 'Listen' to life.

This highly anticipated anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2024. Under the direction of Kumiko Habara (known for her work on 'I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss'), Maho Film studio is responsible for bringing this production to life. The series composition is the responsibility of Deko Akao (known for 'Komi Can't Communicate'), and Yūko Watabe handles character design. It is worth noting that Kakao Entertainment Corp. is listed as an associate producer of the anime.

The anime's plot follows the life of Aoi Takamoto, who in the past was an evil empress named Elise and suffered the death penalty executed by her husband, Linden. After reincarnating in the modern world as Aoi, she decides to become a surgeon to atone for her mistakes. However, after dying in a plane crash, she is revived once again in her past life as Elise, this time a decade before her execution. Determined to avoid a tragic marriage with Linden, she uses her medical knowledge to pursue her true passion: becoming a physician in this new life.

Yuin and Mini launched the manhwa on KakaoPage in 2017, and the English version is published by Tappytoon under the title 'Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp.' The series concluded in February 2021, comprising a total of 10 volumes for the manhwa and four volumes for the novels. Kadokawa plans to release the Japanese version of the original novel starting from January 15.
